When a Contact is Listed as “Unsubscribed”
An “Unsubscribed” status indicates that the contact has blocked all communication from you, not just from a specific mailing list. If the contact unsubscribed to your newsletters by mistake, we can remove the block from our Admin side.
‼️ Important: Due to the CAN-SPAM Act, we need written permission from the contact before resubscribing their email address.
How to resubscribe a contact:
- Email support@smore.com and CC the unsubscribed contact. Please provide a link to the newsletter that the recipient is unsubscribed from.
- Ask the unsubscribed contact to reply in the same email thread, confirming they’d like to receive your newsletters again.
- Once we have their confirmation, we can move forward with resubscribing their address.
When a Recipient Chooses to Unsubscribe
If a recipient “unsubscribes” or “blocks” communication through Smore, they are choosing not to receive emails from you.
In your Email Report (Analytics), an unsubscribed recipient will appear as “Unsubscribed” and will also show up as “Unsubscribed” on your mailing list.
What if a Recipient Unsubscribes Accidentally?
If they unsubscribed by mistake, they can:
- Open a previously received newsletter.
- Scroll to the bottom and click “unsubscribe from emails.”
- A browser window will open with the message “Unsubscribed by mistake? Resubscribe.”
- Click “Resubscribe.” Their email will then be unblocked, and they’ll start receiving your newsletters again.
If a recipient is unable to resubscribe themselves, please have them contact us at support@smore.com for assistance.
How to Remove an Unsubscribed Recipient Yourself
To remove someone from a specific mailing list:
- Go to your mailing list and select or search for the recipient’s email address.
- Click the red “Remove” button and confirm in the pop-up. Alternatively, to remove all unsubscribed recipients from your mailing list, click "Remove unsubscribed."
⚠️ Note: If a recipient unsubscribes themselves, they will be unsubscribed from all mailing lists and blocked from receiving any emails from you. If you unsubscribe them, they’ll only be removed from the specific mailing list you selected.
